Snowstorm is a pony-sized gelding.  He is part Albino and part Appaloosa, but he has very faint Paint markings and under his thick white forelock he has a secret.  No, it's not his blue eyes.  He has a medicine hat!  This means that the top of his head is colored as though he is wearing a little cap.  Medicine hats were considered to be very lucky by some Indian tribes.

Snowstorm was a stallion at one time and was placed at stud.  When he arrived at the sanctuary several years ago, he was so badly foundered he could barely stand.

Snowstorm fully recovered and was easy to place in a nice home.  Unfortunately, the lives of his people changed and he had to come back to the sanctuary.  While away, he foundered but recovered while at the sanctuary only to founder again.  We have decided to keep Snowstorm at the sanctuaryas a permanent resident because of health complications due to his poor genetic make up.   We feel that he will have a longer, happier life if he doesn't have to undergo the stress of changing homes and leaving his friends at the sanctuary.
