Maverick was placed in a home in 2005 but returned to the sanctuary in 2010 after an accident caused financial problems for his family.  They could no longer keep him and his two companions.  His friend, Coyote, has been placed and Teton continues to live at the sanctuary.

Maverick is a medium-sized Quarter Horse-Tennessee Walking Horse cross with wonderful gaits.  He has a happy, mischeavious nature, and he loves attention from people.   An alpha male, he rules our gelding pasture in the manner of a benevolent dictator and he's well-behaved around mares.   Maverick would make a good trail horse for an intermediate or higher level adult rider who wanted to do light riding (short trail rides several times a week at a walk with occassional trotting).  At this stage in his life, half-day or all day trail rides would be to hard for him.
