Can you imagine having your dream horse
for 20 years? He is a big, silver palomino that you have done so many different things with: trail riding, drill team,
jumping, and anything else you have asked of him. Then, he becomes severely ill when your family is facing a financial
crisis.
At 24 years old, Oswego was having health issues. A full blood panel was done by the vet. The
horse had liver problems, an abcessed tooth, laminitis and nasal discharge. He was placed on antibiotics for infections
but the vet recommend euthanasia of the loyal horse because the family could not afford the expensive care. A day was
set to put Oswego down.
The owner thought her horse was suffering
from Cushing's Syndrome but did not have the funds to run the test. As the day approached to let him go, she felt
that she was killing her best friend and that there had to be something else that could be done. She called the HPS
sanctuary and asked for help.
