Like so many of the horses at the
HPS sanctuary, Inca arrived during the drought of 2007. She was starved and was rated the lowest possible body score.
A kind person who knew nothing about horses was trying to save her, but some neighbors stepped in and asked that Inca come
to the sanctuary because they knew Inca needed to be in the hands of people who were expert at saving starved horses.
Inca has completely recovered
now from starvation. She has some arthritis in her right hock but this is not very uncommon for horses her age.
We had hoped she would be suitable for light riding but now believe that she may have EPM. She has had a few seizures.
She is currently being treated for this condition with Evitex, Super Immune Booster and MMS.

Inca is a 21-year-old black Quarter
Horse mare and stands 15 hands tall. She is known for her distinctive white eyebrows and her big personality.
She loves baths and the water hose. She is also known as the "apple bandit". Inca can turn the door
knob on the feed room with her lips, enter the room, grab an apple and run back out before anyone can stop her!
We
recently had wonderful news. Inca was retested for EPM and results indicated that she no longer had an active case.
With her good health has also come a renewed interest in life, and she is spending more time outdoors grazing with her friend,
Navajo. She is walking much better and her attitude is much friendlier than before.
